Frequently asked questions

Are you a full-time school or homeschool co-op?

We are a full-time day school for Kindergarten-Grade 7. We are not a homeschool co-op. Any resources provided for homeschool familes requires a time commitment from both parties. E.g. If you sign up for a hybrid course, you must be committed to the two days per week that that requires. Obviously, there are exceptions for sickness, planned absences, etc.

Do you accept MOScholars or any other tax advantage for tuition?
We do not plan to accept MOScholars at this time because the “strings” are not advantageous to our families or institution. We are in the process of talking to the right people and completing necessary things so that we may begin building our scholarship fund through RenewaNation's SGO, if Missouri will “opt in.” This will begin January of 2027. This will allow us to provide scholarships without any governmental strings/oversight, remaining completely autonomous to our mission and identity as a Christian School.
Are you a part of the Christian Church?
No. We rent the building from the Christian Church, they have been wonderful to work with.
What religion are you?
We are Christ-followers. We focus on primary doctrines only -- Creation, Fall, Redemption, and Restoration. All of our teachers are from varying evangelical backgrounds, but do not "push" preferences. We would closely align with organizations such as Answers in Genesis, Biblical Worldview Matters, and RenewaNation.
What does tuition cover?
We do our best not to "surprise" families with unexpected cost. Tuition includes curriculum and four uniform shirts. Beginning in the fall of 2026, parents will have to pay an activity fee. Parents are responsible for uniform bottoms. Prices for everything has skyrocketed, and we can no longer afford to pay outright for all our field trips.
How many days do you operate?
We are four days per week. Off on Mondays.
Are there ways to volunteer?
Yes! Our parent group, Life Roots, is always looking for willing people to help serve through concerts, preparations for events, cleanup, and fundraising activities.

Portrait of a Graduate (Handbook)

FCS recognizes that we are all created in the image of God, no matter our age or spiritual maturity. (Genesis 1:26-27) The objective of FCS is not only to train and instruct students in personal growth and maturity, but to steward growth in our staff and faculty as well. These objectives do not apply only to students.

  • To accept salvation as a free gift of grace – we cannot earn it.

  • To have a love relationship with Jesus Christ.

    • To love God is to self-sacrificially commit oneself to delight in Him, to rejoice in serving Him, to desire continually to please Him, to seek one's happiness in Him, and to thirst day and night for a fuller enjoyment of Him. (Brown, 2005)

  • To develop in the following areas:

    • Listen.

    • Read.

    • Be teachable.

    • Be humble.

    • Treating others with kindness and respect for their being made in the image of Christ, no matter what you agree or disagree on.

    • Learn from people with whom you disagree.

    • Love Jesus. Love people.

  • Know what you believe and why you believe it. (Biblical Worldview Education)

  • To love learning and become a lifelong learner.

  • Is responsible steward of all they are entrusted.

“Education, then, becomes a matter of envisioning and equipping the next generation to rule well over God’s entire good-but-broken world, imitating Him in the totality of the here and now, both in public and private, through human occupations of all kinds, hence occupying until He comes again. This is the lost purpose for learning.” (Overman, 2016, p. 35)

Core Beliefs

For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent. For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross. Colossians 1:16-20 ESV

Foundation Christian School stands independent of any local Church. Thus, it is a ministry to help all churches and denominations who desire a Biblical worldview education for their children. All the administration, faculty, and staff must be born-again Christians who are consciously committed to following Jesus Christ knowing that their lives serve as examples to those whom they teach, and support Foundation Christian School’s Statement of Faith both in philosophy and action. Interpretation will come from the school founder, administration, and board.

Recognizing and understanding that the primary responsibility for education rests with parents, Foundation Christian School endeavors to encourage and equip families to homeschool their children. Due to socioeconomic changes and the effect of feminism on our post-modern world, we recognize that homeschooling is not always a possible option. In cases where families determine the need for a full time Christian education, FCS serves as an extension of the family to partner with parents, grandparents, or guardians in this task. As such, the school adheres to Biblical principles of child rearing and discipline. FCS is an evangelistic school – this means that any parent/guardian who agrees, by their signature, to have their children taught through the statement of faith and philosophy of education of FCS may apply for enrollment. Parents/Guardians and students are highly encouraged, but not required, to attend church in order to apply for enrollment. (Deuteronomy 6; Psalm 78:5-6; Ephesians 6:1-4; Proverbs 22:6; Colossians 3:20-21)

School Scripture

Statement of Faith

In obedience to the command of our Lord Jesus Christ to assemble ourselves together in His name as members of His Body, the Church; and, recognizing our responsibility to preach His Gospel to all men everywhere, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit; Teaching them to observe all things He has commanded us, and, recognizing the inspired and inerrant Word of God, the Holy Bible, as our rule of faith and practice. This Statement of Faith covers our beliefs with respect to key elements including Faith in the Holy Trinity, The Father, The Son of God, The Holy Spirit, The Sufficiency and Full Authority of the Holy Scriptures for Salvation, God's Purpose for Humanity, Marriage and the Family, Personal Choice (for Salvation), The Atonement, Repentance and Faith, Justification, Regeneration and Adoption, Good Works, Sin After Regeneration, (Sanctification: Initial, Progressive, Entire), The Gifts of the Spirit, The Church, The Sacraments: Baptism and the Lord's Supper, The Second Coming of Christ, The Resurrection of the Dead, The Judgment of All Persons, and Destiny.

Creed

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Creator of all things. And in Jesus Christ, His Son, our Lord; Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary; suffered for us; was crucified, dead and buried. He descended into hell, the third day He arose again. He ascended into Heaven where He is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. He will come again, to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, who inspired the Holy Scriptures and who by grace justifies us through faith alone; and who also sanctifies us in the likeness of Jesus Christ. I believe in the Holy Christian church, the means of grace, the resurrection of the body and life everlasting. Amen.

Scripture

We believe that the Bible, composed of the 66 books of the Old and New Testament, is the inspired Word of God, infallible and inerrant. The Bible was given by God through chosen people and thus reflects the backgrounds, styles, and vocabulary of human writers. The Bible is the full and final authority on all matters of faith and practice; there are no other writings similarly inspired by God. The Bible’s truth is timeless and speaks to our everyday lives. (Luke 21:33, 24:44; Romans 15:4; Hebrews 4:12; II Timothy 3:15-17; I Peter 1:25; II Peter 1:19-21) The Bible is the supreme authority in everything it teaches. The final guide to the interpretation of Scripture is Scripture itself.

God

We believe in one God, Creator and Lord of everything, infinitely perfect, all powerful, all knowing and eternally existent as God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit (The Godhead). (Isaiah 43:10-11; Matthew 3:16-17, 28:19; John 14:16-17, 16:23-27; II Corinthians 13:14; Galatians 4:4-6 3).

God the Father

We believe that the Father is Creator and Ruler of all. He is compassionate, loving, and just toward all people and is faithful to keep His promises. He hears and answers prayer. He calls all people to believe in Him and saves from sin and eternal death each person who comes to Him through His Son, Jesus Christ. (Genesis 1; Matthew 7:7, 12:50; Ephesians 4:6; II Corinthians 6:18; I Timothy 2:4-5; Exodus 34:5-7 4).

God the Son

We believe that Jesus Christ is God in the flesh. He came to earth fully God and fully man through a miraculous conception by the Holy Spirit and through virgin birth. He lived a sinless life and voluntarily died on the cross in our place as full payment for the sins of all people. He arose bodily from the dead on the third day to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended into heaven to the right hand of the Father where He is the only One who is able to provide access and reconciliation between God and the people. He will return personally and visibly to earth and those who have believed in Him will be united with God eternally in Heaven. Those who have not believed in Him will be eternally separated from God in hell (and the lake of fire) due to their sin. (Matthew 1:18-23; Luke 24:1-8; John 1:1-5, 1:14, 3:16, 3:18, 11:25, 14:6-7, 14:9-11, 14:16; Acts 1:9-11; Romans 1:3-4, 5:8-11, 6:23; I Corinthians 15:3-6; II Corinthians 5:17-21; Hebrews 4:14-16, 7:24-25; Titus 2:13-14; Revelation 19:20, 20:15).

God the Holy Spirit

We believe that the Holy Spirit is the Comforter, Counselor, and Helper sent for believers. We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit who reveals God’s truth to the world and indwells believers to empower them for Godly life and service. (John 14:15-17, 14:25-26, 15:26, 16:5-15; Acts 1:8; I Corinthians 12:4-31).

Creation

We believe that God created the Heavens and the Earth. We believe love is the ultimate motivation behind His creation. We believe in 6, literal, 24-hour days of Creation as laid out in Genesis as well as other parts of the Bible. We believe God made man (humans) in His own image, creating one race, the human race. We do not believe the creation account (or the rest of the Bible) to be allegorical or mythological. We believe that He created male and female. We believe this creation account to be the foundation for marriage, family, origins, gender, and race. We believe the creation account gives us a biblical week of six days of labor and one day of rest [Sabbath] and should be treated as separate unless there is necessity. Throughout church history the Christian Sabbath is observed on Sunday, also recognizing the day Jesus arose from the grave. (Genesis 1-11; Genesis 1:26-27; Genesis 1:1-2:3; Genesis 2:2; Exodus 20:11; Isaiah 58:13-14; Nehemiah 9:6; Mark 2:23-28; John 1:1-3; John 17:24; John 20:1; I John 4:7-8; Acts 20:7; Colossians 1:16; Revelation 4:11).

Sin

We believe every person is born with inherited depravity. Any disobedience to God, regardless of how large or small, is characterized as “sin.” “Sin” literally separates each person from God, which is spiritual death. (Psalms 51:5; Jeremiah 17:9; Romans 3:10-11, 23-24; 5:12, 18-19; 6:23; 14:23; Ephesians 2:1-3; James 4:17; I John 3:4; 5:17).

Salvation

Spiritual death is not God’s desire. People can be united with God through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and Him alone. Jesus died for sinners. As individuals with free will, we have the freedom to respond to the relationship God has initiated with us, or not. Anyone who repents, believes in Jesus’ death and resurrection for their personal sins, and desires to have Him as King of their life, is forgiven. Upon this personal decision, God re- establishes a personal, love relationship with that person and promises the gift of eternal life, Jesus Christ. Salvation is a gift received by grace through faith alone in Jesus Christ. (Romans 3:23-24, 5:12, 5:16, 6:23; Psalms 51:4-5; John 3:16, 14:6; Acts 4:12, 10:43; Ephesians 2:8-9; Colossians 1:13-14; I John 5:11-13).

Holiness

Holiness can be defined simply as Christ-likeness. We are to be separated from the world unto God. Worldliness is simply defined as self-centeredness. Other references to the same concept are personal surrender, total commitment, consecration, dedication of heart and life etc. It is being like Jesus Christ in our thoughts, attitudes, actions, and relationships. God created us to be holy, calls us to be holy, and commands us to be holy. Also, holiness is a requirement for entry into heaven. Any attempt to be holy apart from God is completely useless. We are made holy through the cleansing blood of Jesus Christ and the baptism of the Holy Spirit. (Ephesians 1:4; II Timothy 1:9; I Peter 1:15-16; Hebrews 12:14; Revelation 15:4; Exodus 15:11; Psalm 99:5; Colossians 3:3; Romans 8:1; Exodus 19:5-6; Leviticus 20:26; I Corinthians 6:19-20; I Samuel 21:4; Ezekiel 44:23; I Thessalonians 4:3,7; I Peter 2:20-24; Ephesians 5:1-2; Philippians 2:5-8; John 4:34; 17:4; Hebrews 10:9).

Church

We believe the church is composed of all the called-out people, anywhere, who have separated themselves from the world and have a living faith in Christ as their personal Savior. The purpose of the local church is to make disciples, organize them to reach unbelievers with the message of salvation, serve as a corporate body for worship of God, provide fellowship for Christians with each other, develop the gifts and talents of Christians for godly service, and practice baptism and communion. We believe baptism and communion are God’s ordinances to be observed by believers in Jesus Christ, but not to be regarded as means of salvation. (II Corinthians 6:17-18; Romans 12:2; James 4:4; I John 5:9; Hebrews 11:6; Romans 10:10; Matthew 28:18-20; Mark 16:15-16; Acts 2:38-41, 2:42-47; Colossians 1:18; Hebrews 10:24-25, 13:17; I Corinthians 11:23-26, 12:12-13 10).

Government

“Followers of Christ in the United States are coming to the sober realization that the biblical foundations for law, civil government, economics, family and gender that once provided commonly accepted harbor lights for society have been replaced.” (Overman, 2016. p.1). We believe this is due to the lack of biblical principles taught in school (public and Christian. The causation for our societal moral deterioration is the same lack. In the spirit of I Corinthians 6:9-11, we as a school recognize that some believers may have participated in these things that are accepted by society, but not by God. All of us fall short of the glory of God and are in need of redemption. (Romans 3:23) When a person is born again, God forgives all sin. This is not an exhaustive list. Our purpose is to promote Biblical standards in these areas where society has drifted away from its Biblical roots. We believe that God offers redemption and restoration to all who confess and forsake their sin, seeking His mercy and forgiveness through Jesus Christ (Acts 3:19-21; Romans 10:9-10; 1 Corinthians 6:9-11). We believe that every person must be afforded compassion, love, kindness, respect, and dignity (Mark 12:28-31; Luke 6:31). Hateful and harassing behavior or attitudes directed toward any individual are to be repudiated and are not in accord with Scripture nor the doctrines of Foundation Christian School. However, preaching and teaching God’s Truth as revealed in Scripture is not hateful or harassing of any person.

Moral Issues

God instituted government. Whether it be in the home, church, local, state, or federal, each are responsible for specific areas in the lives of people. (Deuteronomy 6:4-6; Proverbs 1:8; Romans 13:1-7; Hebrews 13:17; Ephesians 6:1-4; I Corinthians 3:10; Titus 3:1; I Peter 2:13-14).

Value of Human Life

We believe that human life begins at conception and that the unborn child is a living human being. Abortion constitutes the unjustified taking of a human life and is murder. Our valuing of human life should not only be in the womb, but at any and all stages of life until death. (Genesis 9:6; Psalm 139:14-16; Proverbs 6:16; Isaiah 44:24; 49:1; Jeremiah 1:5; Luke 1:35- 44).

Marriage, Gender, and Sexuality

We believe that God has established marriage as a lifelong, exclusive relationship between one man and one woman and that all intimate sexual activity outside the marriage relationship, whether heterosexual, homosexual, or otherwise, is immoral and therefore sin (Genesis 2:18-25; Exodus 20:14, 17, 22:19; Leviticus 18:22-23, 20:13, 15-16; Matthew 19:4-6, 9; Romans 1:18-31; I Corinthians 6:9-10, 15-20; I Timothy 1:8-11; Jude 7). We believe that the cohabitation of unrelated persons of the opposite sex in a marriage-like relationship, without the marriage bond, is contrary to the teaching of Scripture. (I Thessalonians 5:19; Hebrews 13:4). We believe that any form of sexual immorality (including adultery, fornication, homosexual behavior, bisexual conduct, polygamy, bestiality, incest, and use of pornography) is sinful and offensive to God (Matthew 15:18-20; 1 Corinthians 6:9-10). We believe the Biblical view of marriage plays a large role in redeeming the earth. We believe that God created the human race male and female and that all conduct with the intent to adopt a gender other than one’s birth gender is immoral and therefore sin (Genesis 1:27; Deuteronomy 22:5). We believe that God wonderfully and immutably creates each person as male or female. These two distinct, complementary genders together reflect the image and nature of God (Gen 1:26-27). Cultural terms such as “gender identity” do not reflect the religious beliefs of Foundation Christian School. We believe that God hates divorce and intends marriage to last until one spouse dies. We believe that the New Testament allows for divorce and remarriage on grounds of fornication or desertion. *Each situation is different. (Malachi 2:14-17; Matthew 5:31-32; 19:3- 10; Romans 7:1-3; I Corinthians 7:15; I Timothy 5:8).

Abuse of Addictive Substances and Behaviors

We believe that participation in addictive behaviors and the abuse of addictive substances is not only destructive but also hinders our ability to be controlled by the Holy Spirit. Including, but not limited to, alcohol, tobacco, gambling, and narcotics. We believe that the use of addictive substances goes against the Bible’s teachings on our bodies being the temple of the Holy Spirit. The sin of gluttony is not excluded. (Proverbs 23:20-21; I Corinthians 6:12; I Corinthians 6:19-20; Ephesians 5:17)

This Statement of Faith does not exhaust the full extent of our beliefs. While we accept and follow the teachings of the Bible as our final authority in all matters (as set forth above), for Things pertaining to the spiritual and eternal realm of “God’s affairs,” or things “related to religion.” Things pertaining to the physical and temporal realm of “man’s affairs” or, “not related to religion.” the purposes of the faith, doctrine, practice, policy, discipline, building use, employment practices, etc., of Foundation Christian School, the current administration and future board of directors make the final decisions regarding application. We determine application after much research, thought, discussion, and prayer – determining the differences between universal principles or specific applications.

Purpose of Handbook

The purpose of the handbook is to acquaint parents and students with the philosophy, policies, and various procedures of Foundation Christian School. Since it is not the purpose of the administration to make blanket rules in every area, we reserve the privilege of interpreting the rules, and changing or adding to them, if necessary, in order to maintain the mission and vision of the school. The administration, faculty, and staff will always stand ready to cooperate
