Academics

At Foundation Christian School, our academic program is built on the conviction that everything we do is done as unto the Lord. From the very beginning of our school’s journey, we have been committed to establishing a strong foundation of excellence—One that honors Christ while equipping students for lifelong success.

Because we believe each student is uniquely created by God, we challenge every child to pursue his or her very best. Academic excellence looks different for each learner, and our teachers intentionally guide, encourage, and support students in reaching their fullest potential. We hold high expectations in the classroom, not simply for achievement’s sake, but because diligence, integrity, and perseverance reflect a heart that seeks to glorify God.

Our curriculum is delivered through a distinctly Biblical worldview. God’s Word is not an addition to our academics—It is the lens through which every subject is taught. Whether studying mathematics, science, history, or language arts, students are encouraged to think critically, grow spiritually, and develop wisdom that extends beyond the classroom.

As a growing school, we are committed to continual evaluation and improvement. While our mission remains steadfast, we thoughtfully refine our academic programs to better serve our students and families. We are grateful for the partnership of parents as we work together to cultivate minds, shape character, and nurture a deep and lasting faith.

Together, we are building more than strong students—We are developing Christ-centered leaders prepared to impact the world for His glory.

Our academic program utilizes curriculum published by BJU Press, a trusted leader in Christian education for over 40 years.

BJU Press provides academically rigorous, biblically immersive instructional materials designed to develop critical thinking, strong communication skills, and a solid foundation in core subject areas. Each course is carefully structured to meet high academic standards while intentionally weaving a Biblical worldview throughout every discipline.

Through BJU Press curriculum, students benefit from:

  • Clear, structured lesson progression

  • Strong emphasis on reading, writing, and analytical thinking

  • Biblical immersion across all subjects

  • Character development grounded in Biblical principles

  • Age-appropriate academic challenge and enrichment

By partnering with BJU Press, our school ensures that students receive a comprehensive education that prepares them for future academic success while strengthening their faith and biblical understanding.

Although BJU curriculum is academically rigorous, FCS understands that not every student learns the same way or will progress in the same way. That’s ok, because we are all made uniquely. Our teachers do their best to utilize varying teaching styles, slower paced studies, as well as one on one time to ensure students do not progress through a “grade” until they are fully prepared to do so. We recommend filling each gap in foundational concepts in Math and Reading so that the information may translate to every subject matter. Even if this means a student might not graduate “on time” as our culture portrays, in the long-term, students will be much more prepared for the calling God has for their lives. If they have learned to love learning instead of equating learning with school only, that is the goal! Personalized Learning Plans are available for students who may need an extra boost during the school year and summertime – These plans may include Tutoring, Reading Recovery, IXL Math, as well as other “out of the box” learning tools.

Foundation Christian School is certified by the Associates of Christian Teachers and Schools (ACTS), a nationally recognized organization dedicated to supporting excellence in Christian education.

Institutionally, FCS has been a member of ACTS since the spring of 2025. All of our teachers

have their certification through ACTS. Certification is the first in several steps towards full accreditation. Accreditation affirms that our academic program meets established standards of quality, accountability, and biblical immersion. Through this future accreditation goal, we are allowing an outside entity to look deeply into every aspect of our institution. Accreditation affirms that our mission, our curriculum, instructional practices, governance, and operational procedures are what we claim them to be. They will hold us accountable to ensure that practical application of our mission is being accomplished.

This distinction reflects our commitment to:

  • Academic rigor and continuous improvement. Teaching students how to think, not what to think.

  • Qualified and spiritually grounded faculty, examples of Christlikeness in all spheres of life.

  • Biblically immersive instruction across subject areas.

  • Ethical leadership and responsible school governance.

  • A safe, structured, and Christ-centered learning environment.

  • Making Christlike disciples.

  • Accountability and Transparency at every level.

The certification of our teachers through ACTS and the pursuit of accreditation provides families with confidence that our school maintains high academic standards while fostering spiritual growth, character development, and a lifelong love of learning. We want students to be lifelong learners who know, love, and serve Jesus.

Dear Students and Families:

I can’t tell you how excited we are to welcome you to the Foundation Christian School family! As you already know, we are a new school, starting the fall of 2022. You are some of the first to become part of what we hope will be a long, rich history. Thank you for being part of the pioneer group! The trust you have put in us is truly humbling.

Students – because we are to do everything in our lives just like we are doing it for the Lord Himself, we will expect you to do your very best. Whether it is your academic work, extracurriculars, or just being part of our school community, we will expect a lot. Everyone’s “best” looks a bit different, and we will keep that in mind throughout your time here.

Parents – because we are to do everything in our lives just like we are doing it for the Lord Himself, we promise to give you and your children our very best. We expect your best as well, and that includes reading this handbook thoroughly. I know it’s lengthy, but it will give you the best sense of who we are until you’re able to witness the “boots on the ground.” I would also encourage you to read through the Scriptures that are listed. We want you to know that it is God’s Word, not ours, that emboldens us to educate your children through a Biblical Worldview.

Because we are starting slowly with lower grades, some things you read here will seem applicable immediately. I ask that you would extend grace to us as you realize our handbook may be missing context, whether it be for things we do or do not offer currently. The school is a work in progress! As we all learn and grow together throughout the next few years there will be changes and adjustments. Those adjustments will be reflected here, as well as the handbook. Our mission will never change, but the way we get there will be evaluated consistently and ever growing.

Thank you for partnering with us as we endeavor to provide a Biblical Worldview education for your precious children.

In Christ,

Mrs. Dana Fourman, Head of School

MA Educational Leadership

By age 13 a child's worldview is almost fully formed. That means the home, church, and school must be intentional to instill Biblical values into their hearts and minds.

Homeschool Resources

FCS desires to be a resource to homeschool families – we want to help you in any way we can without any pressure to enroll your children full time.

Some of the ways we might be of service to you are as follows:

  • Curriculum

  • Hybrid Classes

    • Hybrid classes are available on a first come, first served basis for the 2026-2027 school year. Available courses are Middle School (Grades 5-7) Math, English, Spelling, and Heritage Studies. Students will attend class two times per week and continue assigned work at home two days per week.

  • School Photos

  • Graduation Ceremony Participation

    • Homeschooled seniors may participate in our official graduation ceremony. To ensure meaningful involvement in the class community, students must participate in at least one full school year of Choir or Hybrid Classes leading up to graduation.

  • Art Opportunities

    • Homeschool students may join our established Choir. Choir is available for grades 1-4, 5-8, and High School. Our director has 15 years of choral experience as well as an undergraduate degree in Music. The 2025-2026 school year saw a collective number of 86 in Choir. Choir meets one time per week until we grow enough to add a second rehearsal. Students are expected to listen to their repertoire at home between rehearsals. Private lessons are available upon a first come, first served basis: Guitar, Piano, and Trumpet.

  • Life Skills

    • We are excited to continue building our Agriculture Program one step at a time. Shop will be available in the 2025-2026 school year with the potential for a basic Ag Class.

  • Dual Credit Classes

    • High School students with a 3.5 GPA may participate in dual credit courses, earning college credit while completing high school. Through our partnership with a fully accredited college in Cincinnati, Ohio, serious students may also complete a high school diploma through this track.

Dual Credit

Dual credit classes are available to those high school students, homeschool or full time, who are Juniors or Seniors with a minimum 3.0 GPA through God’s Bible School and College in Cincinnati, Ohio.

*High School Diploma Track available to Homeschoolers and qualifying Juniors with a minimum of a 3.0 GPA.
